2025 Event Registration Information and Policies
REGISTRATION TIPS
- Duo registrants – please have both racers' info ready and on hand to complete registration. You will need one credit card to purchase, but both registrants' info to finalize your registration.
- King + Queen of the Boat – when you register for these categories, you will automatically be placed in the Pro/Open MTB race for either men or women and the full marathon. Even if you aren’t a pro level rider, you are a “pro” for taking on the challenge!
- Prince + Princess of the Boat - this dual entry is NOT automatic! Competitors who wish to seek P/P recognition will need to BOTH be signed up for one side of a Duo MTB team AND then also sign themselves up for the half marathon OR DUO Marathon.
Refund/ Transfer Policy
- We do not offer refunds. The EME takes a large amount of planning and permitting. We will be ready for you when you sign-up.
- Your 2025 race registration can NOT be deferred to a subsequent year.
- We do not offer transfers.
- Changes from one category to another (i.e. Pro/Open to Citizen) are allowable until race day. Downgrading or upgrading between Half and Full Marathon is allowable until race day - upgrades will incur a price change, downgrades will not receive partial refunds.
Waitlist Policy
In the event of a sellout, we will move to a wait list. If there is a waitlist, we cannot transfer existing registrations to someone else at your request. Instead, the next person in line on the waitlist will receive an entry.
Safety
The Emerald Mountain Epic is leaving nothing to chance when it comes to your safety and health. Race day event medical services will be provided by a team of professionals. Mobile rapid response event paramedics and EMTs will be strategically placed, ready to act immediately and provide life-saving emergency treatment, even in the most remote parts of the course. Medical aid tents will be available to race participants and spectators alike.
Cancellation Policy
Sometimes there are just things beyond mortal control. Depending upon our options and conditions at the time of the event we reserve the right to delay start times or cancel the event.
Course Changes
We reserve the right to alter the racecourse at any time up until race day but we promise it will still be a hard and fun day in the saddle or on foot! A rain cancellation is a possibility as well. The City of Steamboat Springs has final say on race day conditions. Slick mud on Howelsen Hill is not good for riding or for trail health.

- Safety is our highest priority.
- We will do everything within our power to host both a mountain bike and run racing event during race weekend, but understand that our desire to do so will not supersede the health risks to participants, staff and volunteers.
- If a race is cancelled, it will not be rescheduled.
- If the mountain bike race (day 1) is cancelled, the run race the next day (day 2) is not automatically cancelled. A decision on each day’s race will not be made final until the morning of that specific race.

- Courses may be altered or shortened.
- Last-minute changes will be announced at the start of each wave.
- Racing will stop immediately if dangerous circumstances arise, as determined by the race director and/or EMS staff.
- Racing may resume once proper precautions are taken.
- A stopped race may be declared over, depending on the schedule and duration of the stoppage.

We will communicate delays, start time changes, and course alterations through:
- Event website (prior to race day, if possible)

- Races proceed on scheduled dates unless the racecourse is deemed unsafe.
- We may alter race start times due to weather, air quality, or other dangerous conditions.

- If lightning occurs within a 5-mile radius before the race: Start time will be delayed until the area is clear.
- If lightning occurs during the race: Athletes should proceed to the next aid station and await instruction about race delay or stoppage.

- The race will be delayed or canceled if the AQI exceeds 200.
