Over the past few months, the Emerald Mountain Epic (EME) team worked diligently to exhaust all possible avenues, developing comprehensive mitigation plans, and communicating with the appropriate City and County authorities in an effort to put on a race that would be safe for both our participants and our community. After careful consideration, we’ve come to the conclusion that we would not be able to host the EME in a way that will both garner support from our local officials and still allow us to maintain our original mission of hosting Steamboat’s premier single trace race experience. Ultimately, protecting the health and safety of the racers, as well as our community members, is the most important race we are in this summer, and one we all must win!
While that might be hard for you to hear, there is good news! Knowing that this was always a possibility, we have been preparing for this scenario and are excited to announce the 2020 Emerald Mountain Epic, presented by Honey Stinger, Premier Virtual experience! Through our virtual experience, the event will still support two amazing local non-profits, Partners in Routt County and Routt County Riders!
Mountain bike race:
• 26 Miles: $50
• 52 Miles: $50
Trail running races:
• Marathon: $27.5
• Half marathon: $35
This race is now in its 10th year and has become quite popular. We anticipate this race to sell out very quickly!
In order to make registration go quickly and easily for you, we recommend the following:
We reserve the right to alter the race course at any time up until race day but we promise it will still be a hard and fun day in the saddle or on foot! A rain cancellation is a possibility as well. The City of Steamboat Springs has final say on race day conditions. Slick mud on Howelsen Hill is not good for riding or for trail health.
Earthquake, rain, plague, locusts, pandemic, etc. policy: sometimes there are just things beyond mortal control. Depending upon our options and conditions at the time of the event we reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule the event. In the event that this race can't occur due to longer-reaching recommendations on large events and gatherings, rest assured that your registration fee will be refunded. Our team understands this is an uncertain time and appreciates your patience and support moving forward (see above).
There is a waitlist, so if you are not able to race, you will be given a refund date dependent and the next person in line on the waitlist will receive an entry.
This also means the following requests will not be accomodated:
• Transferring from Solo to Duo or vice versa.
• Transferring from running race to mountain bike race or vice versa.
Before July 1st: Full entry fee reimbursement
July 1st - July 31st: 50% of entry fee reimbursement (applies to cancellations and changes)
